The primary types of arthritis are Osteoarthritis, Rheumatoid arthritis, Septic arthritis, Gout and pseudogout, Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Still's disease and Ankylosing spondylitis. The types of Arthritis that are secondary to other diseases are Lupus erythematosus, Henoch-Schönlein purpura, Psoriatic arthritis, Reactive arthritis, Haemochromatosis, Hepatitis, Wegener's granulomatosis, Lyme disease, Familial Mediterranean fever, TNF receptor associated periodic, Hyperimmunoglobulinemia D with recurrent fever and syndrome and Inflammatory bowel disease.
There are many other types of arthritis which vary in their degree of severity and while they not be as prevalent as the types listed above, they do afflict humans in significant numbers.

In other types of arthritis, Kawasaki disease or mucocutaneous node disease, lymph node syndrome, infantile polyarteritis and Kawasaki syndrome, is a self-limited vasculitis affecting many organs, including the skin and lymph nodes, blood vessel walls, mucous membranes and the heart. It does not seem to be contagious and was first described in 1967 by Dr. Tomisaku Kawasaki in Japan.
In other types of arthritis, Fibromyalgia (FM or FMS) is a chronic syndrome characterized by diffuse or specific muscle, bone fatigue, joint, or bone pain, and a wide range of other symptoms. It is not contagious, and recent studies suggest that people with fibromyalgia may be genetically predisposed.

It is most commonly diagnosed in individuals between the ages of 20 and 50, though onset can occur in childhood.

It is mostly that people in Northern European and people of English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh origin that are afflicted.
Juvenile idiopathic arthritis is the most common form of persistent arthritis in children. Arthritis is the inflammation of the synovium (the lining tissues) of a joint. It differs quite a lot from arthritis commonly seen in adults such as rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis and other arthritides that can present in childhood and are chronic conditions.
