Kawasaki Syndrome is evident in kids specially those residing in Japan and Korea. Kawasaki Syndrome is a disease of mouth, skin and lymph nodes and the disease is common with the children below 5. However if proper care is taken in the preliminary stage then the disease can be cured but if delayed then permanent heart disease may develop.
Causes of Kawasaki Syndrome:
The real cause of Kawasaki Syndrome is not yet discovered. The disease is often related to autoimmune disorder. Such physical disorder often affects heart, blood vessel, lymph nodes and mucus membrane.
Symptoms of Kawasaki Syndrome:
The symptoms of Kawasaki Syndrome usually occurs in two phases. In the first phase, the patient may have high fever, which sometimes raises up to 104 0 Fahrenheit and remains for 5 days. The eye tends to become red and lips become dry and cracks appear. Sore throat accompanied with irritation is one of the common symptom. The patient may also face problem in chest and stomach. The tongue often becomes swollen in addition to a white coating. Swelling of lymph nodes, swelling of palms and soles which turn purplish red is the most common symptom evident in nearly all the patients suffering from Kawasaki Syndrome. In the second phase children have joint pain and suffer due to diarrhea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
Diagnosis of Kawasaki Syndrome:
No medical test can diagnose the disease. Hence the doctors rely on the symptoms of the disease. Swelling of lymph nodes, palm and feet, redness in the eyes and changes in and around the lips are the vital symptoms of Kawasaki disease. If the doctors suspect Kawasaki Syndrome then the patient may have to undergo monitor heart function like echo cardiogram. Blood and urine tests are also recommended to confirm that the patients are not suffering from measles, rheumatoid arthritis or scarlet fever.

Treatment of Kawasaki Syndrome:
Treatment must begin as early as possible or the children may develop heart disease in future. Intravenous doses of purged antibodies like gamma globulin are given as they are instrumental in fighting infection. High dose aspirin are recommended to minimize heart problems.
Complications with Kawasaki Syndrome
Children suffering from this disease may be cured if the disease is diagnosed within first ten days. If the disease is neglected then there is a possibility of vasculitis, which results in inflammation of blood vessels. In such cases coronary arteries are affected and hence supply of blood to heart is hampered. Problems in heart valves also occur, a medical condition often termed as Arrhythmias. Complications in the lining valves and heart muscles may also develop due to Kawasaki Syndrome.
