Myositis

Myositis is caused by an inflammation of the skeletal muscles. These muscles play an important part in the movement of the body. Most of the instances of Myositis appear in the human beings as a result of autoimmune conditions. However, Myositis can get aggravated due to infection generated in the body, through external contact. When a person is affected with Myositis, he suffers from swelling and loss of muscle. Idiopathic Myositis,is a serious form of Myositis and the causes of this disease are not known.

Inflammatory Myositis, on the other hand can bring about serious damages to the healthy muscles and tissues. With Inflammatory Myositis, the antibodies within the body behave weirdly. They not only destroy the healthy muscles but also behave quite contrary to their nature. With Inflammatory Myositis, one suffers from muscle weakness, coupled with pain in the muscles. Victims may find it difficult to climb up the stairs. Severe cases of Inflammatory Myositis can result into difficulty in swallowing.

Diagnosis of Myositis

Diagnosis of Myositis consists of a number of complicated processes and procedures. Each of these tests is quite costly and extremely important for proper treatment. Diagnosis of Myositis also includes a study about the general family history of the patient and a medical report of the patient's health.

It is best to undergo a conventional blood test during Myositis. This helps the doctors to detect an elevation in the level of muscle enzymes.

Skin rashes and muscle weaknesses are also some unmistakable symptoms of Myositis. If the blood sample received from the patient's body shows an increasing amount of muscle enzyme, the doctor may detect the patient with Myositis. A detailed blood test will also reveal the clustering of antibodies typical to Myositis. This in turn can confirm the diagnosis of Myositis.

For further clarification, a doctor can ask the patient to go for a skin and muscle biopsy. Muscle and skin biopsy can clearly show, if there is any inflammation or damage present in the muscles. Muscle and skin Biopsy can also reveal an abnormal collection of skin proteins in the muscles.

Muscle and skin biopsy is usually recommended for patients who are suffering from skin eruptions. If the doctor feels that a patient is suffering from severe Myositis, he can suggest muscle resonance imaging scans and electromyograms to the patients.

Myositis, is one of those diseases which require patient and effective treatment. Most doctors go for a combination of drugs and recommend exercises to treat the patients.
