Wegener’s granulomatosis

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a problem in which you can suffer from severe pain. This is however not very common among the people. The disease too can be very painful and sometimes can lead to serious consequences. If not diagnosed at an early stage Wegener’s granulomatosis can affect both lungs and kidneys. What is Wegener’s granulomatosis?

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a kind of arthritis in which the patient suffers from inflammation of small arteries and veins. In general case the inflammation takes place in the arteries that supply blood to the essential body parts like lung, sinuses and kidneys. In case where both lungs and kidneys are affected its called generalized Wegener’s granulomatosis. In case when only lungs are affected such conditions are known as limited Wegener’s granulomatosis.

Symptoms of Wegener’s granulomatosis

Wegener’s granulomatosis has several symptoms. You can suffer from a considerable amount of fatigue and weight loss. Fever,short breath, joint pains, sinus inflammation, bloody sputum are some other symptoms of Wegener’s granulomatosis. You can even have problems of bloody nasal discharge and nasal ulceration. Eye inflammation are also common in the patients with Wegener’s granulomatosis. You can also experience inflammation of nerves, middle ears and skin.
How Wegener’s granulomatosis can be diagnosed?

for the proper diagnosis of Wegener’s granulomatosis you can conduct a urine test through which proptein and red blood cells can be detected in urine. X-ray test of chest can also be a good way to detect the problem. However, before doing any of these you should at first consult your physician. If he advise you then you must go for the test.

Treatments of Wegener’s granulomatosis

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a very serious kind of disease. If proper care is not taken and treatments are not done it can be fatal within a few months. Stopping the inflammation by suppressing the immune system is one of the best way to treat the problem. For doing this you need to undergo several types of medication like high dose cortisone and immunosupressive drug. Trimethoprim can also be beneficial for the disease. However, the medical researchers are still in search of a better treatment of Wegener’s granulomatosis.

Wegener’s granulomatosis is a nearly fatal physical problem. The disease should be handled wiith absolute care and one has to act quick in this kind of disease. If proper care is not taken the disease can even take a fatal turn.
