There are many different primary forms of arthritis, every one of them with a different cause. Most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (also known as degenerative joint disease) occurs following trauma to joint, following an infection of joint or simply as a result of aging. Furthermore, there is emerging evidence that abnormal anatomy may contribute to early development of osteoarthritis. Other forms of arthritis are rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis, which are autoimmune diseases in which the body is attacking itself.
Septic arthritis is caused by joint infection. Gouty arthritis is caused by deposition of uric acid crystals in joint that results in subsequent inflammation. Additionally, there is a less common form of gout that is caused by the formation of rhomboidal shaped crystals of calcium pyrophosphate. This is known as gout and pseudogout. The other forms of arthritis are Juvenile idiopathic arthritis, Still's disease and Ankylosing spondylitis
One of the primary forms of arthritis, osteoarthritis is also known as degenerative joint disease, OA, Osteoarthrosis and it causes pain, swelling and reduced motion in your joints. It can occur in any joint, but usually it affects hips, spine, hands or knees. Osteoarthritis breaks down the cartilage ( the slippery tissue that covers the ends of bones in a joint and healthy cartilage absorbs the shock of movement in your joints). When you lose cartilage, your bones rub together. Over time, this rubbing can permanently damage the joint. Factors that may cause osteoarthritis include Being overweight, Getting older and Injuring a joint. Therapies that manage osteoarthritis pain and improve function include exercise, weight control, rest, pain relief, alternative therapies and surgery.
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an arthritis form that causes pain, swelling, stiffness and loss of function in joints. It can affect any joint but is common in the wrist and fingers. It is more common in women than men. It often starts between ages 25 and 55. You might have the disease for only a short time, or symptoms might come and go. The severe form can last a lifetime. Genes, environment and hormones might contribute. Treatments include medicine, lifestyle changes and surgery. These can slow or stop joint damage and reduce pain and swelling. Rheumatoid arthritis is different from osteoarthritis, the common arthritis that often comes with older age.

RA can affect body parts besides joints, such as your eyes, mouth and lungs.
RA is an auto immune disease, which means the arthritis results from your immune system attacking your body's own tissues. No cause is known for rheumatoid arthritis. The National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases is a pioneering institute in arthritis research and treatment advise.Septic arthritis is an inflammation of a joint caused by a bacteria infection other than gonorrhea. Septic arthritis develops when bacteria spreads through the bloodstream to a joint. It may also occur when the joint is directly infected with bacteria during injury or surgery.
