Led by a vision of a world devoid of arthritis, The Arthritis Research Center of Canada (ARC) was created in 2000 by the Board of The Arthritis Society, BC and Yukon Division. It conducts practical research into the prevention, treatment and self-management of arthritis for Canadians. In April 2002, ARC emerged as an independent organization that, till date, continues to work closely with The Arthritis Society for the benefit of all people with arthritis, and has earned its fair share of international approval with its extraordinary service, a dedicated team of highly qualified research scientists, .medical professionals and doctors.
Arthritis Research Center T conducts consumer-driven clinical research and trials related to arthritis diagnosis, prognosis, prevention, care outcomes and quality of life issues. It takes into account a wide range of disciplines including rheumatology, rehabilitation science, public health, epidemiology, biostatistics health psychology, health economics and education. The Arthritis Research Center is dedicated to understanding, advancing and sharing knowledge about the causes of arthritis, and addressing issues that are impacting people with arthritis.
ARC is not alone in its goal to reduce the burden of arthritis of the sufferers and giving people with arthritis better, more timely, and cost-effective solutions for living with their disease. The ARC boasts of affiliations with the University of British Columbia (UBC) and the Vancouver Coastal Health Research Institute (VCHRI) and partnership with Simon Fraser University (SFU) with the establishment of the Arthritis Research Chair. The Arthritis Research Center also enjoys working relationships and partnerships with universities, hospitals, funding agencies, arthritis treatment centers, and both the BC and Yukon Division and the National Office of The Arthritis Society.
